North Nottinghamshire / South Yorkshire based engineering organisation require a Structural Design Engineer to join them on a permanent salaried basis.

In this role you will provide a comprehensive engineering design and detailing function for precast concrete manufacturing. You will manage engineering standards and details for precast business and develop and maintain IT systems for engineering design and detailing. You will supervise 3-D modelling and ensure the structural integrity of 3-D precast solutions, providing design advice at bid and contract stages of procurement. You will manage partners and other external consultants for precast projects and your responsibility will include full project life cycle from order to delivery, implementing and monitoring business process and procedures. Technically your responsibility will include the development of analysis and design software (SCIA Engineer); finite element analysis for floor plates and/ or elastic analysis methods for framed structures. You will promote the use of Intelligent CAD/CAM software solutions for the design manufacture and delivery of pre-fabricated concrete elements, Including 3-D modelling in Nemetschek's Allplan and development and use of integrated modelling and analysis/design tools. You will liaise with clients and construction teams, to ensure all design information is fully coordinated and interpreted correctly into 3-D model.

You will also assist the Engineering Design Manager with the commercial and work load planning associated with his team and external consultants under his control.

As you would expect for this role, candidates should have both experience and working knowledge of 3D CAD modelling and reinforced concrete design and detailing / management of layout drawings and drawing production detail. Understanding of site construction techniques and building design principles, particularly understanding of precast concrete manufacture and knowledge and experience of software for the design and detailing of reinforced concrete. You are likely to be Degree-level educated and possibly a Chartered Engineer with a specialist qualification in relation to product design or development and experienced in project management.
